For years, Patricia King struggled with extremely high utility bills. A Stockton homeowner, she worried that keeping her home warm or cool could mean sacrificing other necessities — at one point fearing she was “about to lose my home or car just to keep up with my PG&E bill.” Past experiences had also left her skeptical of solar.
Through patience, consistent communication, and support from the GRID Alternatives team, that skepticism gradually turned into trust. Patricia’s home now has 13 solar panels paired with three Enphase batteries, installed in April 2025 with support from the DAC-SASH program and SGIP’s equity budget. The system is expected to save her household about $1,897.68 per year and $37,923.93 over its lifetime.
Today, Patricia describes her experience with GRID as life-changing. Access to solar and battery storage has given her family greater financial stability, safety, energy independence, and, perhaps most importantly, peace of mind. Despite a lengthy process, Patricia says the dedication of everyone involved made all the difference: “I’m forever solar grateful I did.”
