Partnerships unlock the access and benefits that power economic mobility

GRID Alternatives brings solar power, clean mobility, and job training to communities that have been left out of the clean energy economy for too long. Corporate partners help make that work possible. Together, we lower energy costs for income-qualified households, build resilience with battery storage, expand access to electric vehicles, and open doors to sustainable careers in clean energy.

Economic mobility and long-term savings

More Than Gap Funding

  • Economic Mobility

GRID's job training programs, including Installation Basics Training and the SolarCorps Fellowship, offer pathways to clean energy careers with wages that support long-term economic mobility.

  • Long-Term Savings

Every no-cost solar installation lowers energy bills for the household or community facility it serves, creating financial savings that add up over the life of the system.

  • Alignment With Your Company's Goals

Partnership outcomes are positioned to connect with the social and environmental responsibility priorities your company already has, and to give you a story you can point to.

How Our Partners Engage

  • People on roof thumbs up

    Tailored Partnerships and Grants

Corporate philanthropic partnerships support gaps and are leveraged to unlock restricted funding where partnership investments generate millions in ROI and power economic mobility, advance energy security and build resilience.

    Pro Bono & Technical Consulting

Pro-bono consultants are thought partners who bring specialized expertise in legal, financial, and program strategy — support GRID to navigate complex challenges, structure programs for impact, and operate at the highest level. In turn, partners gain meaningful exposure to GRID’s mission, leadership, and network at the forefront of the clean energy transition.

  • GRID staff and trainees working together in a workshop.

    Employee Engagement

Workday experiences bring your team on site for a hands-on day of installing solar for a household or community organization. With grant support, GRID provides a fun and engaging team-building opportunity while demonstrating your company’s commitment to community service.

    Equipment & Technology Partnerships

Equipment and technology partners donate or discount solar panels, inverters, racking, batteries, and EV chargers that GRID puts to work on real projects. In turn, partners get their products in front of installers, job trainees, and future customers who will shape the next generation of the solar industry.

The Multiplier Effect

What Gap Funding Actually Does at GRID

  1. Person on roof looking down

    Step 1

    A home becomes solar-ready

Corporate gap funding covers the roof repair or panel upgrade that often stands between a household and the solar incentives it qualifies for.

  2. Person on ladder

    Step 2

    Solar goes on the roof

A no-cost solar system is installed, and the household's energy bills drop right away.

  3. Worker installing solar panel on roof wearing safety harness and hard hat

    Step 3

    A trainee installs it

Every installation is a hands-on classroom. A job trainee facing barriers to employment gains real experience working alongside GRID's experienced crews.

  4. Figuroa family (parents and four kids) with their new electric vehicle

    Step 4

    Clean mobility layers on

While the crew is on site, they may also install an EV charger, connecting the household to GRID's Access Clean California program for help affording a clean vehicle.

  5. Team of volunteers in blue hard hats holding a large solar panel in front of a house under construction with solar equipment on the roof

    Step 5

    A career launches

That trainee can move from Installation Basics Training (IBT) to a SolarCorps Fellowship to a full-time career in clean energy.

A cohort of GRID trainees in hard hats and safety glasses stands in a training warehouse, cordless drills and practice roof decks on the floor in front of them.

Support Workforce Development

A direct way to fund the clean energy workforce.

Workforce development is powered by corporate partnership. Partner funding supports hands-on training, industry certifications, and wraparound services — including transportation and childcare — that set trainees up for success and equip them with the marketable skills to secure sustainable careers and thriving wages.
