A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is an investment account set aside for charitable giving. Use the secure link below to connect to your DAF, recommend a grant to GRID, and let us know a gift is on its way.

If you’re 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). This kind of gift can count toward your required minimum distribution, and it isn’t taxed as income.

Plan a future gift to GRID through your will or trust, or by naming GRID as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life insurance policy. Our partner FreeWill offers free tools to create a will or living trust online, whether or not you choose to include a gift to GRID.

Give appreciated stock and skip the capital gains tax you’d owe if you sold it yourself. This can mean a bigger gift for GRID, and a smaller tax bill for you. Our partner FreeWill can walk you through the transfer.

Donating a vehicle or real estate to GRID Alternatives is a big way to support clean energy, without the hassle of selling it yourself. Our partner CARS handles the process for cars, motorcycles, and boats, including free pickup for any vehicle that can be towed. These gifts are tax-deductible, and if you itemize, they may also lower your taxable income. There’s no cost to you.

Double, or even triple, your gift by asking your employer about their matching gift program. Thousands of companies match charitable donations made by their employees, and some also match gifts from spouses and retirees. To apply, log into your company’s matching gift portal and search for “GRID Alternatives,” or use our EIN, 26-0043353. Register your recent gift and submit the request to your employer; we’ll take care of the rest.

Give a gift that protects GRID’s future. Endowment Fund gifts create a financial safety net for GRID in times of need. When you give to the endowment, your gift is invested, and only used when the board and leadership decide there’s a real need for it. Gifts of $500 to $500,000 all make a meaningful difference to GRID’s long-term financial health.

Tribal Energy Alternatives (TEA) is a Tribal-led affiliate of GRID that partners with Tribal Nations on community-led solar and energy resilience projects, based in Denver. TEA runs its own donation page for cash gifts. If you’d like to give stock, an IRA gift, a legacy gift, or real estate to support TEA’s work, use GRID’s giving options above and let us know the gift is intended for TEA. GRID will process the gift and pass the funds to TEA as a shared income grant.
