Meagan and Matt Silvernale

Meagan and Matt Silvernale of San Diego have seen their electric bill drop from $150 – $175 to around $50 per month thanks to 11 solar panels installed on their home by GRID Alternatives in May 2014. Meagan says she was concerned for the volunteers on her roof working in ninety degree summer heat, but the real heat wave didn’t come until the early fall, when the Silvernale family first saw their savings increase and help cover the cost of air conditioning. Meagan and Matt, who is a rescue swimmer in the Navy, had their first baby in March, and Meagan says that solar has definitely helped cover the increased amount of electricity they’re using now that she’s home from work and spending more time at home with the newborn.
