What We Do
GRID partners with utilities, public agencies, housing providers, and other organizations to design and deliver clean mobility programs, engage communities, and install EV charging infrastructure.
GRID designs and administers clean mobility programs for public agencies, utilities, air districts, and other partners, combining program management with participant support and community engagement.
Incentive Program Administration
GRID designs, administers, and evaluates EV and EV charging incentive programs. We help participants understand program requirements, navigate applications, and access the rebates and incentives available to them.
Charging Solutions Administration
GRID administers programs that expand access to EV charging infrastructure, working with partners to support program implementation, participant enrollment, technical assistance, and project delivery.
Micro & Shared Mobility Project Administration
GRID administers programs that expand clean transportation options beyond personal vehicles, including e-bikes, shared mobility, and zero-emission community transportation projects.
Program Design & Equity Consulting
GRID helps partners design clean mobility programs that are accessible and responsive to community needs, drawing on our experience administering programs and working directly with the communities they are intended to serve.
GRID provides marketing, education, and outreach (ME&O) services that help clean mobility programs reach and support the people they are designed to serve.
Direct ME&O
We develop and deliver culturally responsive outreach and education that helps people understand clean transportation options, available incentives, and how to participate in programs. Engagement may include on-site workshops, phone and text outreach, and language-accessible materials.
Outreach Partnerships
GRID partners with community-based organizations and other trusted local organizations to extend the reach of clean mobility programs and connect with communities through trusted messengers.
Technical Assistance
Our team provides hands-on support to help participants understand program requirements, complete applications, navigate available incentives, and move through the participation process.
Community Engagement
GRID works directly with residents and other stakeholders to assess community needs and priorities, collect feedback on project design, and connect people with available clean mobility resources.
GRID provides complete EV charging installation services, managing projects from initial planning through installation and commissioning so partners don’t have to coordinate multiple service providers.
Single-Family Residential
GRID installs EV charging equipment at single-family homes, coordinating the technical, permitting, electrical, and installation work needed to bring residential charging online.
Multifamily
GRID plans and installs EV charging infrastructure at multifamily properties, including affordable housing, working with housing providers and residents throughout project development and installation.
Public / Commercial
GRID supports public agencies and other partners with EV charging infrastructure for public, commercial, and fleet applications, from project planning and design through installation and commissioning.
General Flow of Services
Our team supports EV charging projects through technical assistance, site assessment, system design and engineering, funding and incentive navigation, permitting, procurement, construction, inspection, and commissioning. Where electrical or main service panel upgrades are needed to support charging, GRID can incorporate those improvements into the project.

GRID Alternatives is the nation’s largest nonprofit installer of renewable energy technologies and a leading provider of clean energy workforce development. Since launching our clean mobility work in 2018, GRID has partnered with public agencies, utilities, housing providers, and community organizations to expand access to electric vehicles, EV charging, and other clean transportation solutions.
Our approach combines technical expertise with community engagement. We work to ensure clean mobility programs and infrastructure reach the communities they are designed to serve, including renters and income-qualified households.
Clean mobility projects can also create opportunities for local contractors and job seekers to build experience and participate in the growing clean energy economy.
