Maria and Vincente Enriquez have four children they support with her job in agriculture and his in construction. Cooling bills in the Central Valley, where the temperature regularly rises above 100 degrees, are expensive and even unaffordable for many working families. The Enriquez family could save up to $25k on electricity over their lifetime thanks to their solar system installed by GRID. But solar in the Central Valley has another benefit beyond a reduced electricity bill. Like many residents here, Maria suffers from allergies and asthma. The American Lung Association named the Fresno/Madera area the number one most polluted city in America for particle pollution and fourth worst for ozone pollution in its 2014 State of the Air Report. Here, solar not only saves people money, but also reduces emissions and pollution in the Valley. GRID’s average 3kW solar installations prevents 79 tons of carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere.
