Welcome to the next installment of our Staff Spotlight feature, where we share a brief interview to introduce you to some of our amazing staff members here at GRID Bay Area! This month we’d like to introduce you to our Workforce Development Manager, Daisy Meyer. She gets to work with our Bay Area participants to get them in the field, having fun, learning and engaging in the community. Daisy has switched her time spent under the stars to time spent on top of the roof with our awesome GRID community. Keep checking back to meet more fabulous GRID Bay Area staffers!

Daisy Meyer, Workforce Development Manager

Pronouns: She/her/hers

How did you come to GRID?

“I was attracted to my original position at GRID as a SolarCorps Workforce and Volunteer fellow because of the initiative to get more women into the solar industry. Coming from working predominantly in male dominated fields, I felt strongly about this focus. Within a month of working for GRID I got to be a big part in the Bay Area’s first ever Women in Solar Training. It was one of the most rewarding professional things I had ever done at that point. We still have spots on our, now third annual, Women in Solar training in the Bay Area this September. Come sign up ;)”

What is your favorite GRID moment?

“My favorite GRID moment was the first time one of our GRID participants let me know that they got a job because of their experience with GRID. Seeing someone put time and energy into volunteering with us, and then using it to further their career is just the coolest thing ever.”

What’s a fun fact about you?

“After college I was able to live out of a tent and on couches for multiple years traveling around the Western US. In that time I climbed mountains & cliffs, operated chainsaws & jack hammers, saw the most incredibly bright stars and met amazing people.”

What GRID value most resonates with you?

“Trustworthiness is what I always come back to. My colleagues are honest and speak up for each other, our mission and our values while encouraging others to speak up as well. I admire my coworkers’ true passion for GRID’s mission, and belief in standing up for the work work we do.”
