A grad student at University of Vermont, Els had worked in wind energy for several years before returning to school to study solar. Solar Spring Break allowed her to connect her class work with actual installations in the field and learn even more about solar by getting out on a roof herself. In her own words, “I’ve fallen in love with community solar and have studied policy and ecological mapping for where it can be best installed. It’s so cool for me to fill in the knowledge gap about how systems are actually installed and see it in the flesh. I actually get it; that experience was so invaluable.” Click here to read more about Els’ story.
