Miguel Rodriguez
Miguel Rodriguez struggled to find personal balance in high school, sometimes finding himself in small scuffles with other students. After graduating, he enrolled at the New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn studying computer science and began working 30 hours a week at a CVS to help support his family. After an accidental injury opening a box at work, Miguel missed a final exam, dropped out of school, and was fired from his job. Miguel again found himself at a loss, frustrated and without direction. Through the help of his mentors and the Green City Force, an AmeriCorps program with a focus on the environmental field, Miguel got an internship with GRID and was soon hired by On-Force Solar, a solar energy company in the Bronx. Today, Miguel hopes to start a business involving his passions for sustainable agriculture and energy alternatives. Miguel was profiled in the New York Times in November 2014.
