At GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles, we believe that building a more sustainable future starts with education—and it’s never too early to spark curiosity and inspire action. That’s why we were thrilled to collaborate with Susie Hicks, affectionately known as “The Climate Chick,” in a special episode of her educational YouTube series designed just for kids.

Susie’s series is beloved for its ability to make big environmental topics fun, approachable, and engaging for young minds through storytelling, hands-on activities, and curiosity-led learning. In this episode, she brings her energy and enthusiasm to GRID GLA’s warehouse to explore how solar energy works, meet the people behind the panels, and see firsthand how clean energy is installed and how it benefits families and the environment. With a mix of fun, facts, and inspiration, the episode helps young viewers see how everyday choices—and careers—can help heal the planet.

This collaboration reflects GRID GLA’s ongoing commitment to community education, workforce development, and environmental equity for all ages. Together, we’re helping to raise the next generation of clean energy leaders.

The episode features a behind-the-scenes look at our GRID GLA office, with real GRID team members walking Susie through the ins and outs of solar technology. Through laughter, learning, and a few hard hats, the message is clear: climate action is for everyone, and that includes the next generation.

“We believe that community education is just as critical as clean energy access,” said Shameka Dixon. “Partnering with creators like Susie allows us to meet people where they are, whether they’re homeowners, jobseekers, or curious kids with big questions.”

At GRID GLA, we’re always looking for creative ways to share our mission, and this collaboration is just one example of how we’re reaching across generations to inspire climate action, equity, and imagination.

Because when it comes to protecting the planet, the earlier we start, the brighter the future becomes.
