This initiative will include planting 2,000 trees, installing free solar in 100 homes, converting 100,000 square feet of turfgrass to low-water landscaping, and enhancing workforce training. The cost of this State-funded initiative is $31.2 million and is funded in part through the Transformative Climate Communities Program (TCC) and Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program (AHSC). The Eastside Climate Collaborative is a community investment with a goal to reduce the effects of climate change in the Eastside neighborhood. TCC and AHSC Grants are offered through the State Department of Conservation to fund affordable housing, smart transit and walkable communities, urban greening, and solar and water\/power efficiency projects, among a wide range of activities. Everything funded under the Grants must lead to greenhouse gas reductions and healthier communities over time. The City of Riverside is the lead applicant on this TCC grant and co-applicant on the AHSC grant.<\/p>\n<p> GRID Alternatives Inland Empire was awarded $1,988,000 of this grant to install 410kWs of solar for homeowners within the Eastside Riverside boundaries.
