Here\u2019s an overview of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gridalternatives.org\/ie\">GRID Alternative Inland Empire\u2019s (GRID IE)<\/a> accomplishments in 2020:<\/p>\n<p><strong>TCC ONTARIO<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>GRID IE signed a partnership agreement with the City of Ontario in January of this year and launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontariotogether.com\">TCC Ontario Solar Homes Initiative &amp; Neighborhood Empowerment (SHINE) Program<\/a>. To date, there have been over 50 active solar projects in Ontario. Sixteen single-family solar installations, four approved for construction, 18 approved single-family applications, and 19 pre-screened qualified\/homeowner applications are being processed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>COMMUNITY | MULTIFAMILY | TRIBAL SOLAR<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>California\u2019s first low-income community solar project was installed in June of this year: <a href=\"https:\/\/gridalternatives.org\/regions\/ie\/news\/first-low-income-community-solar-project-california-underway\">CSD Santa Rosa Community Solar Project<\/a>, a 1 MW solar electric system on the <a href=\"https:\/\/santarosacahuilla-nsn.gov\/\">Santa Rosa Band of Cahuilla Indians reservation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The first Ontario Multifamily Solar Project: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunrun.com\/\">Vista Verde<\/a>, a 190 kW of rooftop solar and 164 kW of carport solar, broke ground in the fall of 2020 and is slated to be complete by the end of this month.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>GRID Alternatives was awarded $1.7 million to install solar with a backup battery (microgrid) on the <a href=\"https:\/\/sctca.net\/soboba-band-of-luiseno-indians\/\">Soboba Band of Luise\u00f1o Indians<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanjacintoca.gov\/\">City of San Jacinto<\/a> (55kW DC). Carport and resilient batteries last 6-10 hours in case the power shuts off. The fire station will be an emergency source of power for the tribal community.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The first solar ever installed<a href=\"https:\/\/tribalsolaraccelerator.org\/\"> Tribal Solar Accelerator fund (TSAF)<\/a> funded project, The Big Pine Water Pumphouse Well, for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigpinepaiute.org\/\">Big Pine Paiute Tribe<\/a> (370 kW DC) was installed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Two TSAF awarded ground mount tribal solar projects for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cahuilla.net\">Cahuilla Band of Indians<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torresmartinez.org\/\">Torres Martinez Cahuilla Band of Indians<\/a> were installed. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>EV\/BATTERY STORAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>GRID signed an agreement for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpuc.ca.gov\/\">California Public Utilities Commission<\/a> Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP, a CA battery storage program) in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swellenergy.com\/\">Swell Energy Inc.<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunrun.com\/\">Sunrun<\/a> for battery storage. GRID IE will be doing marketing and outreach to procure applicants.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program-Clean Mobility Pilot was funded to promote the clean vehicle access program and installation of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations for the Torres Martinez Cahuilla Band of Indians. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKFORCE &amp; VOLUNTEER\/JOB TRAINING<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Three <a href=\"https:\/\/gridalternatives.org\/what-we-do\/workforce-development\/solarcorps-fellowships\">SolarCorps<\/a> fellows completed their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalservice.gov\/programs\/americorps\">AmeriCorps<\/a> service in September.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>100 <a href=\"https:\/\/gridalternatives.org\/what-we-do\/workforce-development\/solar-futures\">Solar Futures<\/a> students were onboarded for the 2019-2020 school year. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Five tribal trainees, members of the Santa Rosa Band of Cahuilla Indian Tribe, were hired for 5-weeks of intensive paid training as general laborers on the CSD 1MW solar project.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>GRID IE hosted 14 Interns:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Seven paid interns through <a href=\"http:\/\/dpss.co.riverside.ca.us\/\">Riverside County Department Public Social Services<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegeofthedesert.edu\/Pages\/default.aspx\">College of the Desert<\/a> Solar Training Cohort program, with two continuing as part of our newest SolarCorps fellows who started in October 2020.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Four paid interns through TCC Ontario, and with one incoming intern to join our team before the end of the year.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Four volunteer interns to support Photovoltaic (PV) Design, Communications and Workforce &amp; Volunteerism<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you to all of our supporters in 2020! <a href=\"https:\/\/gridalternatives.org\/regions\/ie\/partner\/partners-and-supporters\">GRID IE Partners &amp; Supporters<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We look forward to a bright 2021 and continuing to make affordable solar technology and solar job training accessible to communities everywhere!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GRID Alternatives continues to make a huge impact on the communities we serve, despite this challenging Covid-19 pandemic year.
