On Valentine\u2019s Day, and for the second year in a row, GRID Alternatives Central Valley hosted 34 students and two professors from the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma Chapingo (UACh). UACh is an agricultural university located in Texcoco, Mexico State, Mexico. UACh offers high school, technical, bachelor\u2019s, and engineering degrees and it is one of the leading agricultural universities in Latin America. UACh is also where Daniel Lomas, GRID Solar Installation Supervisor, earned his Agricultural Mechanics Engineering degree.<\/p>\n
Visiting the U.S. was an educational, international experience that UACh provided for its students. Daniel Lomas and GRID staff gave the group a presentation about GRID and the work that we do for low-income communities, locally and internationally, and about GRID\u2019s workforce development programs. The group was sharp and eagerly participated in solar construction calculations given by Daniel. The group visited the NASA Ames Research Center, the Sequoia National Park, the Golden Gate, San Francisco, the Tulare, CA, 53rd, World Ag Expo\u00ae and GRID Alternatives Central Valley, plus various other educational stops in California, Arizona, and Nevada on their travel list. GRID staff was most impressed by the student group and their UACh educational paths.
