Last year, the Solar Energy Industries Association laid out its roadmap for solar to comprise 20% of U.S. electricity generation by 2030. To achieve this goal and tackle the looming climate crisis, we\u2019re pushing to ensure clean energy technologies like solar &#8211; paired with battery storage, electrification and clean mobility &#8211; are accessible to everyone.<\/p>\n<p>In the coming year, our policy team is working to achieve equitable clean energy policies and programs across the country:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We\u2019re working to <strong>expand solar access<\/strong> through new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowincomesolar.org\/best-practices\/community-solar\/\" title=\"Link to lowincomesolar.org\">low-income community solar<\/a> policies in New Mexico, New Jersey, Nevada, Washington, Minnesota and the Mid-Atlantic region.\n<\/li>\n<li>With new leadership in the Virginia legislature, there\u2019s more opportunity than ever to move the needle for <strong>equitable renewable energy policy in the Mid-Atlantic<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n<li>In California, we\u2019re focused on how <strong>solar microgrids and energy storage programs<\/strong> can build on California\u2019s existing successful low-income solar programs to build resilient communities. Since we last celebrated California\u2019s investment in the state\u2019s equity budget for battery storage, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is now directing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greentechmedia.com\/articles\/read\/california-finalizes-plan-shifting-key-energy-storage-incentive-toward-blac\" title=\"Link to article about California storage incentives\">over half a billion dollars<\/a> in the next few years for low-income and medically vulnerable households for storage.\n<\/li>\n<li>We\u2019re continuously pushing for policies that <strong>integrate the training-to-careers pipeline<\/strong> needed to grow a diverse, skilled clean energy workforce.\n<\/li>\n<li>We\u2019re building on last year\u2019s win for California\u2019s San Joaquin Valley. California is moving forward with <a href=\"https:\/\/greenlining.org\/press\/2018\/new-energy-projects-to-bring-clean-indoor-air-to-rural-ca-homes\/\" title=\"Link to article about San Joaquin Valley pilot projects\">a series of pilot projects<\/a> to help San Joaquin Valley communities bring down their energy costs and clean the air through electrification and community solar.
