2019 will be a year of growth, milestones, and innovations. With your help, GRID will continue to make renewable energy and job training accessible to underserved communities. As we step forward into 2019, let’s look back at some of our favorite moments in 2018. <\/p>\n

10,000 solar installations<\/a> <\/h3>\n

In April, we hit a huge milestone: 10,000 solar installations for families around the world since our start in 2004. Our affiliate offices also hit major milestones – Central Coast and San Diego passed their 1,000th install, Central Valley hit their 2,000th install, and Greater Los Angeles celebrated installing over six megawatts of solar energy. <\/p>\n

The year of new technology<\/h3>\n

GRID is continuing to expand our reach using new and emerging clean energy technologies. In Colorado, we installed Colorado\u2019s first floating solar array<\/a> and installed our first EV charger in Los Angeles<\/a> as part of our growing work in clean mobility.<\/a><\/p>\n

We opened the door for new careers<\/h3>\n

July was the first birthday of Solar Works DC – a comprehensive job training program offered in GRID Mid-Atlantic through the District of Columbia. After a year, the program is still changing lives.<\/a><\/p>\n

Our tribal work expanded<\/h3>\n

With the Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund<\/a>, and an initial $5 million philanthropic commitment from Wells Fargo, we’ll help catalyze the growth of solar energy and expand solar job opportunities on tribal lands across the nation.<\/p>\n

Fighting climate change together<\/h3>\n

One million viewers tuned in to the premiere of National Geographic\u2019s Paris to Pittsburgh documentary<\/a>, featuring GRID\u2019s job training work. The trailer for the film was shown at the Global Climate Action Summit, a gathering of the world’s leaders to talk about climate action,
where our CEO, Erica Mackie, spoke.<\/p>\n

The launch of Women in Solar in Nepal<\/a><\/h3>\n

Ten former indentured servants, known as Kamlaris, received solar training while bringing renewable energy to the Kaathe Observation Tower in the Chitwan National Park.
