Dear friends,<\/p>\n
This month, GRID celebrated a major milestone — 10,000 solar installations for low-income families! Each and every one of those projects has a story behind it, from the very first installation for the Cubas family in San Francisco, who wired their own inverter and fed us all pupusas; to the Wade family in San Francisco whose system powers life-saving medical equipment; to Joan, a retired senior in Colorado who is getting financial relief from our newest community solar project. Together, our first 10,000 installations comprise a 42 megawatt, distributed clean energy power plant that\u2019s saving families millions of dollars and cleaning up the air we all breathe.<\/p>\n
Yet, in the years since we started GRID in 2004, the urgency for equitable solutions to climate change has only grown. Severe storms, sea level rise, and extreme temperatures are hitting low-income communities and communities of color the hardest. So after we celebrate the progress we\u2019ve made together, we\u2019re ramping up our work in every direction: doing more and bigger projects, helping open new states to solar, and making sure that communities most impacted by climate change are the first to benefit from clean energy.<\/p>\n
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey so far, and especially those of you who contributed to our successful $10K for 10K fundraising campaign. Your gifts will help us bring solar to more frontline communities, train job seekers, and advance an equitable transition to clean energy.<\/p>\n
