On March 24th<\/sup> and 25th<\/sup> Stanford University Students joined GRID\u2019s solar installation supervisors for two days of Solar Fun!!! The installation team from Stanford decided to help further GRID\u2019s mission of making renewable energy technology and job training accessible to underserved communities. Included in this dedicated team were students from across the country as well as a student from Australia and former intern for Enphase Energy a solar component equipment manufacturing company. <\/p>\n

GRID Alternatives recently implemented a Solar Spring Break Program that works with colleges and universities during academic breaks in order to help train tomorrow\u2019s leaders in solar. The program also seeks to build knowledge within low-income communities and incorporate ways in which low-income households can save on their electrical utility bills and help improve the valley\u2019s air quality at the same time. Volunteer Angelica Hernandez, a recent Stanford graduate in renewable energy engineering, shared her experience with GRID\u2019s Spring Break Program, \u201cIt\u2019s always great to be able to get hands on experience installing energy systems that we learn about in our classes. It\u2019s also an opportunity to take part in promoting PV distributed generation.\u201d Angelica, being a former intern of Enphase Energy, was excited to see Enphase microinverters on the install. We look forward to continued installations with Stanford University and the opportunity to incorporate the benefits of solar in our region and state.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
