The sun shone bright today as GRID Alternatives Inland Empire (GRID IE) and Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley proudly announced their partnership to host Solarthon in the City of Temecula this coming November 2013. Solarthon is GRID IE\u0092s largest annual community solar installation, block party, fundraiser, and highest profile signature event. Solarthon will bring together hundreds of local businesses, corporate sponsors, community organizations, job trainees, and individuals to install solar electric systems on the homes of seven hardworking Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley families while raising awareness for solar energy, healthy living, and vital dollars to support the organizations\u0092 work in the Inland Empire.<\/p>\n

Participants from throughout the region will be raising funds, rolling up their sleeves, putting on hardhats, and getting on roofs to help install seven solar electric systems in just one day. By day\u0092s end, more than 17 kW of solar energy will be installed for Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley low-income homeowners.<\/p>\n
Craig Evans, President of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley, stated, \u0093Through Solarthon our homeowners will receive solar electric systems at no cost to them, allowing them to save approximately 75% on their electricity bills annually. Many of these families are struggling to make ends meet in this difficult economy. The extra hundreds of dollars in their pockets each year will truly be a blessing.\u0094<\/p>\n
